The percy Jackson series has a special place in my heart. I did not grow up with it, but i so wish I did. Reading the series took me back to a childhood I never had. I felt as though I was a young boy, being taken to a world where I was not defective, but simply a hero waiting to be made. I loved the greek mythology, and I enjoyed how strongly engrossed it was into the books. I loved Percy Jackson, Nico Di Angelo, I loved Annabeth.
I enjoyed Rick Riordan's writing. I thought he was witty, and I liked how wehimsical the book felt at times. It strikes a good balance between lighthearted banter and serious themes of loss, duty and figuring oneself out.
This is such a great series, and I am glad I read it.
I loved this book. I previously read The Martian, and that book alone got me into astronomy and sci-fi. I was never a big fan of fiction, but this book changed everything. When I say that Andy Weir wrote Project Hail Mary, I had to take a look.
This book is best read without spoilers, which is hard to do, because of the upcoming movie, however it is SO worth it. Don't watch the trailer, read the book. I was blown away by the plot twist, and moved to tears at several points throughout the book.
I know a lot of people like to say that Andy Weir writes the one character, and to be honest, I'd mostly agree, however Ryland Grace is a different person from Mark Watney. I would say Ryland Grace is Mark Watney if he had worked at a daycare.
I will say, that is my only critique of the book, as I otherwise thought it was excellent. It had me laughing, crying and feeling deeply in a way a lot of fiction does not make me feel. I loved it.
I love this book so much, and I almost didn't get this book! I picked it up after going on a group lgbt hike in my area. It was such a great read
I had never really read horror before, specifically becuase I have severe anxiety, but I felt right at home with the characters. Reading the book
Reading the book felt like a warm blanket of familarity. I felt like I was at home in my own mind, but it was someone else's. I loved this book, and I am looking forward to reading camp damascus!
